Gyokuro, meaning “green gem” in Japanese, is the highest quality tea in the region. It is shaded by 80% 3 weeks before harvest. In this way, Gyokuro, which receives very little sun, remains low in tannins and high in amino acids. This gives the tea a soft and sweet taste. Gyokuro, which produces only a few kilograms per year from each garden, is not a tea to drink every day, nor is it to quench thirst or for digestion. It is recommended to drink in small glasses, savoring it.
